Stanley Joseph Raymond

Stanley J. Raymond, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, after a brief illness. Stanley was born March 22, 1928, in New Orleans, LA, to Joseph and Ethyl Raymond, and lived most of his life in St. Bernard Parish. He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Rita Garrity Raymond. He is survived by his four children, Larry R. Raymond (wife, Anne) of Shreveport, Becky R. Cieutat of New Orleans, Sallye A. Raymond of Jefferson, and Thomas J. Raymond of Metairie; one brother, Clyde W. Raymond of Metairie; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Stanley was passionate about fishing the marshes of St. Bernard and Plaquemine Parishes, and truly excelled at finding and catching fish, which he freely shared with those around him. Stanley moved to Shreveport after Hurricane Katrina where he made many friends and loved attending Immanuel Lutheran Church. He especially enjoyed working in his large yard and tending his vegetable garden. Visitation for family begins at 9 a.m. Friday, September 19, 2014, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124, followed by visitation for friends at 10 a.m. and the funeral service at 12 Noon.
