

Stephen Michael Stewart, age 63, of Slidell, Louisiana died at 10:55 pm on September 16, 2015, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. He had been in failing health for the past nine months. Stephen was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on March 20, 1952, and a lifelong resident of Metairie, Louisiana. He was huge fan of Elvis Presley and was affectionately called “Elvis” by his family and close friends. For over fifty years, Stephen attended Magnolia Community Services, a non-profit organization providing support to adults with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Stephen was preceded in death by his loving father and mother, Maurice Irwin Stewart and Bessie Chryssovergis Stewart. He is survived by his brother, Maurice Irwin Stewart, Jr., and his wife Venusia (Dyah); two sisters-Mary Stewart and Judith S. Baker and her husband Jeffrey; three nephews-Chad Stewart, Greg Gagnon and Martha Melendez, and Jeffrey Baker, Jr. and his wife Elise; three nieces—Stefania and her husband David Bovi, Judith Marie Baker, and Holly Baker Neupert and her husband Derek Neupert; three great nephews-John Holliday Baker, Grayson Gagnon, and Amato Bovi; and two great nieces-Alexis Gagnon and Valerie Gagnon. A family service will be held at the time of interment at Lake Lawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Magnolia Community Services.
