The angel population in heaven increased by one this week with the addition of a once in a generation soul. Terri McCune Vanderbrook (aka Honey) passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 due to complication from A Plastic Anemia after six weeks of intense treatment.
Terri is survived by the love of her life, Bob Vanderbrook; sons, Scott (Michele), Todd (Angie), and Chad; seven grandchildren, Trinity, Finley, Corinne, Declan, Robert, Katherine, and Christian; sisters, Debi (Ken) and Patty; sisters-in-law Julie, Tammy, Giselle, Kathy, and Theresa; and brother-in-law, Larry Vanderbrook.
She was preceded in death by parents, Dr. Lawrence and Beverly McCune; brothers, Timothy and Daniel; and brothers-in-law, Richard and Steve Vanderbrook.
Terri was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy and served as the student body president in her senior year. She attended LSU Baton Rouge and then the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene.
Terri met Bob while attending LSU in Baton Rouge. After dating two years, they were married in 1974 and recently celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary. Terri and Bob renewed their vows while Terri was in the hospital. She was a devout Catholic and was actively involved in all school activities throughout her sons’ educations. In grammar school as well as high school. She was a room mother, a volunteer tutor, and any other duty which required parental assistance. She was a volunteer and fundraiser extraordinaire. Terri was actively involved in fundraising committees at St. Angela Merici, Christian Brothers School, and Jesuit High School. She won the prestigious Alma Mater award at Jesuit in 2002.0 She and Bob were the Chair Couple of the Jesuit Celebration at the Hyatt Hotel which is their largest annual fundraiser.
Terri had a life that evolved around three principles: Faith, Family and Friends. She was everyone's best friend. She was loved by all and disliked by none. Adults, children, and anyone associated with her at any level called her "Honey." She made friends at the drop of a hat and kept them for life. She was everyone's favorite Aunt. Her life was always about everyone else and never about her. She
embraced motherhood and her grandchildren were the apple of her eyes.
She and Bob were deeply in love for over a half a century. They enjoyed traveling overseas with friends. Tim and Sue Berger and Richard and Yvonne Dietz. They loved the river cruises and traveled everywhere in Western Europe from Norway to Italy. They were particularly fond of Ireland. She was also a member of the Lakeside Ladies group and coordinated every monthly luncheon. She also oversaw her Ladies Saenger Theatre Group.
Although Terri's life was cut short, she achieved much during her time on earth. She was everyone's best friend, the best wife, mother, and grandmother. She embraced every aspect of her life. She lived life to the fullest. Her life was a life of service. She lived in the present and did not worry about the future or dwell in the past. Although she is gone, her spirit will live forever.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Perrien of East Jefferson Hospital and Doctors Carter Worth, Thomas Atkinson, and Thomas Morel of Ochsner Hospital for their extraordinary care for Terri at the hour of her greatest need.
