Thelma Estelle Plessalla Arp James

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 9 – 10 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, followed by a service and burial on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.

Thelma is survived by her children, Christopher Arp (Sheila), Michael Arp (Angie) and daughter-in-law Jean Arp; her grandchildren, Jeremy Arp (Kristie), Jeffrey Arp (Ryan “Errol”), Dustin Russell, Damian Russell, Greg Kuehlewind, Sherry Frye, Heather Helton (Cory), Molly Snyder (Jordy), Celeste Arp, and Brian Arp; 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence James; daughter, Delores Arp; son, Charles (Chip) Arp; grandson-in-law, Stacy Frye; parents, Ulysse Plessala and Santy Chauvin Plessala; and sisters, Delores Fricke, Ara Pizzolatto and Jeanette Martin.

Thelma loved bingo and gardening, sharing her recipes and her food, Mardi Gras parades and singing and dancing. She loved giving unique gifts to her family, and she loved story telling. Some of her favorite things to do were playing cards and Mexican Train Dominoes and bird watching.

The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone at The Suites at Sugar Mill Point for making Thelma’s last years a happy and caring time. We would also like to give a special thanks to Christy at Haydel Memorial Hospice for taking such good care of Thelma. We are so grateful to all of you.
