

Thomas Edward Norton, born May 21, 1930; died peacefully on February 21, 2022 at the age of 91. Son of the late Henry M. Norton and Marceline J. Serpas Norton. He is survived by wife, Sylvia A. Mazerat Norton for over 66 years; daughters, Peggy Dunn (Kevin) and Michelle; son, Branden as well as his brother, Rodgers Norton (Sylvia).
He was raised in New Orleans and often spent time with his loving grandparents in Chalmette. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in New Orleans.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his military service he attended Loyola University. He worked for Chevron and Louisiana Land & Exploration and Datatel. He also worked part-time for D.H. Holmes/Dillard’s.
He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus (Christ the King & St. Benedict) for many years and served as a Grand Knight (Christ the King) and was awarded the Family of the Year award 1993/94. He was also a member of the American Legion and Holy Name Society.
He served as a Eucharistic Minister at Christ the King and St. Benedict. He enjoyed making bread as part of the Pennies for Bread program at St. Joseph Seminary in Covington.
He loved working in the garden and was an avid reader of history and military interest. His Sweet Old Fashion recipe is a coveted secret of which many have had the pleasure to enjoy on any given occasion.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20370 Smith Rd in Covington, on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Graveside services will be held privately at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
