To Vincent's Family,

My sincere condolences to all of you, and hope that you have been comforted in your loss.  I would also like to extend condolences from Vincent's former colleagues at FMC/United Defense LP in Minneapolis (now BAE Systems).  I worked with and for Vincent throughout the 1990's, in our Applied Mechanics Department.  Vincent was a highly accomplished theoretical and practical dynamicist, and was considered a highly valued subject matter expert within our company.  While at UDLP, Vincent played instrumental roles in the investigation of the USS Iowa explosion, and in development of a complex simulation of the launch dynamics of vertically launched shipboard missiles.  The latter has been essential to the development of the Vertical Launch System for the US Navy and its allies, and is still in use today as the standard for launch safety and performance verification.  On the personal side, Vincent was a friendly and important mentor to me.  I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing, but fondly remember working together. He will be sorely missed.

I still have and use so many gifts that Vincent gave me, from the miniature flashlights that let me walk safely in the very early mornings, to the thermos I use every day to keep my drinks cold, to the memories of long walks in mountains and on golf courses and everywhere in between.  Rest peacefully, Vincent, and know that you are always with us.

Old friends from College Station, Texas. We met Vincent since we immigrants from Taiwan to US back in 1978 when he is a graduate student from TAMU. Sorry for your lost and also is our lost a very old and good friend. My belated sincerest condolences to you.    I never met you but I do saw you on celebrate of Vincent life service and Vincent is nice person as you described when we met him. My parents was asked about him before they passed away. They remembered most of students we met and always wonder and wished the best for them after they graduated. Nice met you.


Vincent was my coworker at Raytheon Missile back in ‘00 - 01. He left for Lockheed Martin Grand Priaire TX then returned to Raytheon few yrs later.Occasionally we exchanged email as late as ‘11 around my retirement. RIP

Vincent and I worked together back in 2001 for about two years. What I remember most is his brilliant smile that can lit up the room and his gentle demeanor that can silence a room. His work was thorough and consistent and his work ethic was high. I don't remember if I ever beat him in coming in to work early. He was always in his cubical when I came in as if he never left the office, only he wore a different shirt. 

He would tried hard to answer your question until you're fully understand, with hand gesture if he must. One time, he used up both of his hands tried to explain the transfer alignment process to a software engineer in a meeting and she was not getting it. You can tell he was thinking a different way to explain. Right then I told him he could borrow both of mine if he needed to. For some reason, right at that moment she clicked and understood what Vincent was trying to express. 

Vincent also enjoyed humorous moments. One time, he heard me complaining about the speed of my computer, he then came over and gave me an example of what he used in UTC, where he worked before Raytheon. He told me that the engineering work stations in UTC came from various companies: some were Compaq, some were Dell, and some were Gateway. There was never a HP in UTC because HP was considered a high end brand.  Both of us were laughing at how poor the UTC work equipments were. After that I stopped complaining. 

So this is Vincent: make the most out of what you have and maximize your output. He didn't ask for much but he delivered plenty. This is his true color.

My name is Frank Lam, I have known Vincent for about 20 years and we have worked together in the same department for more than 10 years. He was a very quiet, smart and hard working guy. We retired around the same time and since we love to travel, we decided to travel together.  I have a lot of good memories of Vincent as my travel partner.  We had travelled to China and Hong Kong and took cruise to Panama Cannel and Alaska. Vincent loved hiking and walking.  We had hiked around Tucson, in Mt Lemmon and Sabino Canyon and even to Picacho Peak.  Vincent, you are a wonderful  friend.  We will miss you. 

My brother, Vincent, left Hong Kong when he was 19 on a scholarship to study in the United States. At that time, I was still very young. In a poor family, if there was someone who could go to the United States to study on a scholarship, everyone in the family would feel so honored and proud. He was born a Chinese, but chose to unconditionally devote all his knowledge, time, and even life to his career in America as an American. Although I miss him so much as he is no longer with us, every night, in the endless sky, he is a tiny star, shining brightly. My heart is full of warmth!

Our amazing, brilliant neighbor is gone way too soon. His was a life well lived. Vincent had a rewarding career. He fell in love, and found his best friend. He had passion for what he loved…travel, taking photos, hiking and walking, and walk he did for miles every day. We would often see him walking miles from home. We will miss our kind neighbor. Rest in Peace, Vincent. 

I met Vincent in Minnesota when he and Amy were first together.  I was struck by his easy laugh and his calm demeanor.  I also felt his quiet intensity.  It was obvious that he and Amy enjoyed each other, and that made me very happy.  Over the years I came to know him a little, and always enjoyed his company during the limited visits we had.  I especially remember when he and Amy guided my wife Marilou and me around Chicago's Chinatown.  My lasting memories of Vincent will be his beaming smile and his love of walking.  I am grateful for all he added to our family, and the love he shared with Amy.  We will miss you Vincent. 

Vincent is my elder brother. Both of us grew up in Hong Kong. Being the eldest son in a Chinese family, Vincent had displayed an important role in safe guarding his three siblings as well as helping out many household work. As a small boy, I was fortunate to have Vincent taken me to play around in the nearby hills, ponds, playgrounds, markets and many other places. I can still vividly remember he took me to watch the first movie in cinema; taught me swimming and kite flying. Then he taught me car driving years later when I was briefly in Houston. I have a lot of fond memories of Vincent and many respect for him. We all miss him.

I met Vincent only twice. He was a warm and friendly guy and I loved his smile. Plus he made Amy happy. She is a lifelong friend and I'm happy that Vincent shared his life with her and that they have many happy memories. Rest in Peace, my friend. You made a positive difference in this world.

Vincent and I shared a love of nature, long walks, and my sister, his wife. He had a wicked sense of humor, and a passion for life. His love of photography and his commitment to videotaping events meant that we always had great memories of family get-together including our father’s funeral and several niece/nephew weddings. These will all be part of his legacy, even more so than his patents and awards. We will all miss him.

I never met Vincent in person and only knew him through Amelia, his wife, my author friend. Her posts on FB helped me to know the strong, witty man and wonderful husband he was. I know she will miss him but thank her for sharing him with me. Those posts and images of him will be part of my memories of him. Sleep well, Bodyguard.
