Wilfred "Billy" Guin Gallardo, Sr.

19 juillet 1934 – 12 mai 2025
Avis de décès de Wilfred "Billy" Guin Gallardo, Sr.
AUX SOINS DE

Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home & Cemeteries

Wilfred “Billy” Guin Gallardo, 90, entered eternal rest on May 12, 2025, surrounded peacefully by most of his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Gallardo Sr. and Virginia Hanna, his beloved wife of 63 years Patricia Timmreck Gallardo, great grandson Elijah Mayeux, and many other cherished family members. Billy, affectionately known as grandaddy, is survived by his children, Melanie Mayeux (Bob), Billy Gallardo Jr. (Nicole), and Mark Gallardo, MD (Cindy); grandchildren, Joshua Mayeux (Tricia), Alicia Rodick (Jason), Gabrielle Gallardo, Gillian Gallardo, Garrett Gallardo, Matthew Gallardo, MD (Devin), Nicholas Gallardo, Kate Gallardo, and Sarah Gallardo; and great-grandchildren, Aiden Mayeux, Hanna Herkes, Blake Rodick, Tiberius Thompson, and Zayda Thompson.

He grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana and spent many summers in Heidelberg, Mississippi with his mother’s family. Billy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Following his service, he married the love of his life in 1956 and resided in Metairie, Louisiana. Billy Gallardo graduated from Holy Cross College and built a respected career as a safety consultant. He was a faithful member of St Edward the Confessor Catholic Church where he was involved in numerous organizations. After Hurricane Katrina, he moved from Metairie to Ponchatoula, Louisiana where he would live the remainder of his life.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, but especially, spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who put his family above all else. His deep Catholic faith guided him throughout his life and was a source of strength to those who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his love, values, and legacy will continue to live on through his family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass and celebration of life at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ponchatoula on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 12:00 p.m. Thank You, Melanie Mayeux
