

Wilfred Olivier Prados, Jr., passed away peacefully on February 28, 2021, at age 90. He was the son of Wilfred O. Prados, Sr., and Edwina Mary Prados, who predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth “Betsie” Melancon, and is survived by his sisters, Edwina Hughes and Jeanne Higgins. He is also survived by his beloved wife, June L. Prados, his sons, Wilfred “Bill” O. Prados, III (Chere), Kenneth (Ann), David (Gisele), Donald, Stephen (Pauline), Daniel (Susan), Michael, and Gregory Prados, his daughter, Donna Reuter (Bryan), his grandchildren, Marc, Joshua, Matthew, Luke, Paul, Myles, Jill, Jared, Eva, Scott, Lucy, and Kate Prados, Megan Treuting, Christopher Reuter, Caroline Barry, and Stephanie Brake, and his seven great grandchildren.
He graduated from Jesuit High School, Class of 1948; Loyola University in 1953, B.S., Business Administration; and the University of Virginia, The Executive Program, 1976.
After serving in the ROTC at Loyola, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in 1952. He was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and of the Logistics Executive Development Program (Certified Military Logistician), and served in the Army and Army Reserve for 30 years, retiring as a Colonel in June of 1990.
He was employed as a Personnel Manager at American Cyanamid Company from 1955-1965; as Regional Personnel Manager at Air Products & Chemicals from 1955-1956; as Assistant Vice- President of Human Resources at Freeport McMoRan, and as Vice-President of Human Resources at Freeport Sulphur from 1966-1987; and as a Management Consultant with Crescent Technology, Inc., from 1987-1997.
He was the Past President of the Jesuit High School Parents Club and was a Member of the Jesuit High School President’s Advisory Council; Past President of the Personnel Management Association of New Orleans; Past President of the St. Vincent de Paul Society - St. Angela Merici Parish; a Member of the Reserve Officer’s Club, St. Angela Men’s Club, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and the Serra Club of East Jefferson; and a Recipient of the Order of St. Louis Medal from the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and at his house in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He was an active participant at the East Jefferson Wellness Center, Elderhostel/Road Scholar Program, Manresa House of Retreats, St. Angela Merici Church Alter Servers, and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Jesuit High School Wilfred O. Prados, Jr., Family Scholarship Fund, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Manresa House of Retreats, or St. Angela Merici Church.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr. Metairie, 70002, on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 12:30 pm with public visitation beginning at 10:30 am. Interment will follow the Mass and take place at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, 70124.
