

Capt. William A. “Cappy” Bisso, III, (08 August 1941 – 24 September 2016) aged 75, was the fourth generation Chairman of the Board of the 127 year-old family business, BISSO MARINE, LLC. Capt. Bisso was a native of New Orleans, LA, and attended Ridgewood Preparatory School before attending the University of Southern Mississippi. He joined the family business in 1962 and served in various capacities in all divisions of the company before ascending to its Chairmanship. Following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Capt. Bisso moved his family and the headquarters of the company from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Houston, Texas. Through his vision and leadership, BISSO MARINE, LLC evolved from a local inland marine service provider into a full service subsea and offshore midstream infrastructure contractor with operations around the world. Capt. Bisso served on several boards and executive committees including the U.S. Coast Guard Foundation, the National Ocean Industries Association and was a founding member of the Harris County Sherriff’s Office Foundation in Houston, Texas. Capt. Bisso’s past board services include the Louisiana State Mineral Board; Executive Committee of the International Salvage Union in London, England; Trustee for the National World War II Museum and The Republican National Finance Committee and the 1988 Republican National Convention Committee. Capt. Bisso was the only child of Capt. William A. Bisso, Jr. and Lillian J. Bisso. He was the loving and devoted husband of Darlene M. Bisso and the father of their only child, William A. “Beau” Bisso, IV. He was the father-in-law of Eva C. Bisso and the devoted grandfather of William A. Bisso, V and Joseph R. C. Bisso. Capt. Bisso was a Master Mason, member of Dante Lodge, F&AM, and a Shriner, member of Jerusalem Temple, AANOMS both of New Orleans, LA. Capt. Bisso loved classic automobiles, American history, traveling around the world with his wife, and spending time with his grandsons. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
