

Yvonne Brown Collier passed away peacefully on New Years day 2019 at the age of ninety. She was the only daughter of William Perry Brown and Yvonne Elder Brown. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John Marshall Collier and her son William Brown Collier, as well as her brothers William Perry Brown, Jr. and Henry Elder Brown. She is survived by her children, Yvonne Collier Gwin (Oscar), John Marshall Collier, Jr. and Elizabeth Blair Collier McKinnon (Malcolm). She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Oscar McDuffie Gwin, IV, Henry Elder Gwin, Yvonne “Sibby” Gwin Charbonnet, William Brown Collier, Jr., Edward Durham Collier, Isabel Louise Collier, Arthur Hickham Collier, George Dashiell Collier, Elizabeth Blair Tribble “Tribbie” McKinnon, James Malcolm Angus McKinnon and five great grandchildren. Yvonne was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. She graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart and attended Newcomb College where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. As a sub-deb she was the first queen of the ball of Les Pierrettes in 1946 and later during her debut year she reigned over the Elves of Oberon. Yvonne was a former board member of the Junior League and the Colonial Dames of America, a former member of Le Petit Salon and the Southern Yacht Club. For many years she was the assistant director of Camp Riva Lake for Girls in Winchester, Tennessee. She will be deeply missed by her family and her many friends who loved her for her loyalty, warmth, and sense of humor. We would like to thank her wonderful caregivers Mrs. Ondina Marconi and Mrs. Renata Every and the staff at Passages Hospice for their kindness and compassion. A private graveside service will be held at Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Academy of the Sacred Heart or Isidore Newman School.
