Anthony Joseph Macaluso, ”Tony,” 74, of Port Richey, Florida, passed away on June 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 28, 1950, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to Joseph and Gloria (Reed) Macaluso, Tony lived a life full of passion, creativity, and deep devotion to those he loved. He had a love for travel that took him across the country and beyond—spending time in California before eventually moving to the Dominican Republic, where he met his wife, Maura, and where they raised their daughters, Melissa and Christina. Tony was also a devoted father to his son, Alex. While living in the Dominican Republic, he successfully opened and ran a jewelry store, which he later expanded to Destin and Fort Walton Beach, Florida, after moving there with Maura and their daughters.
Tony had an adventurous spirit and a lifelong fascination with all things mechanical, especially planes, cars, and motorcycles. He even built his own motorcycle and loved spending hours immersed in flight simulator games. One of his greatest joys was going for drives with Maura, exploring nearby towns,
shopping areas, and restaurants—living like a tourist in his own community. Even on days when he’d already had breakfast at home, he loved stopping at their local Dunkin’ for a coffee and a donut. It was the little routines, shared with the person he loved most, that brought him so much happiness. Tony also found joy in the simple, hands-on things—tinkering with electronics, fixing up cars, or watching travel documentaries. He had a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, whether it was in the bikes he built or the jewelry he carefully selected for his stores. And while he wasn’t one to cook, he definitely loved to eat—his favorite phrase was always, “Let me try that,” as he snuck bites off everyone else’s plate with a grin. He could talk your ear off for hours about anything if you let him.
Tony was the definition of the “man of the house” - strong, steady, and full of wisdom. Whether it was a question, a tough decision, or simply needing a calm voice of reason, his family always turned to him. As a grandfather, he was patient and loved building memories with his grandchildren, whether sitting by the pool or making pizza together in the brick oven he built by hand.
He was a man of many talents, but above all, Tony was known for his kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for his family.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Maura Macaluso; his children, Alex, Melissa, and Christina; his sons-in-law, Victor Concepcion and Jake Rouse; and his cherished grandchildren, Abigayle, Filipo, Alexa, Jahz, Daisha, and Amari. He is also survived by his twin sister, Annette Macaluso, as well as many loving nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Gloria, and his older sister and brother-in-law, Josephine and Billy Haschak.
Tony’s presence, unique sense of humor, and generous heart will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and doctors at Morton Plant North Bay Hospital for their extraordinary care and compassion.
A small, private celebration of life will be held on June 14th to honor and remember Tony
