Dominic James Durso, 90-years-old, crossed over peacefully on Wednesday February 19, 2014, at his home in Holiday, Florida. Dominic was born on November 18, 1923 in Harlem Hospital, New York City and was married to Lucy Durso on November 16, 1946. Dominic was the eldest sibling of 6 beautiful brothers, his brother James, still lives with his spouse Joan. Charles, Ralph, Alfred and Walter have predeceased him.
After growing up on his family's estate in East Fishkill, New York he met his Sweetheart, Lucy Durso (who predeceased him in January 2014) and had a blissful courtship before being married at St. Dennis Church.
Married for 67 years, Dominic & Lucy raised their 4 dear children, Robert, James, Warren and Diane over the years in Dutchess County, New York. Possessing a true servant's heart, Dominic faithfully provided for his family by working for I.B.M.. A man of faith and the backbone of the Durso family had a real zest for life. Dominic loved watching and playing Baseball also loved playing games/cards – especially with his wife Lucy and their five Grandchildren (Leah, Jeff, Kacie, Ryan, and Andrea), chat with friends and family, enjoy his great-grandson, Spencer, and travel…just to name a few.
After the couple's retirement in 1986, Dominic & Lucy relocated to and settled in Florida. During his retirement years, Dominic loved to play baseball until he was 70 years old.
Dominic, even as a child, possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout his life he maintained a simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by his witness of constant love and faith. His signature gift of joy, shown through his constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten.
