

John L. “Jack” Lynch, age 80, of Holiday, FL, former longtime resident of Lynn, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at home. He was born on January 20, 1938 in Malden, the son of the late Frederick and Katherine (O’Malley) Lynch. He graduated from Malden Vocational High School, Class of 1956. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Jack attended Northeastern University for Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed a long career in engineering; working in the fields of military defense, automotive, and security systems. He is credited with nine U.S. Patents, which he was very proud of.
Jack enjoyed travelling the world for both business and pleasure; visiting South Africa, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and China, where he walked the Great Wall of China. He enjoyed playing cards with friends and family often and was an avid New England sports fan who always enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots. More than anything, Jack loved the University of Notre Dame and was so proud that both his sons, his son-in-law, and daughter-in-law all graduated from ND. Jack is survived by his wife of 55 years, Freeda “Ethel” of Holiday, FL; His son, Stephen M. Lynch and his wife, Deirdre, of Greenville, SC; His daughter, Helene K. McBride and her husband, Joseph, of Geneva, IL. His daughter-in-law, Maureen Lynch of Wheaton, IL. He is also survived by his seven beautiful grandchildren that he adored; Jack, Katherine, Nicole, Molly, Michael, Madeline, and Ryan. Jack was predeceased by his son, Thomas A. Lynch in 2013.
