June 27,1932 - May 6, 2027
It is with both heavy and appreciative hearts the family of June DuBois announce the passing of our much loved, and last remaining MacDougall Matriarch, in Clearwater, Florida at 93 years of age. The loss of a beautiful and special woman, who demonstrated a warm, social, generous and adventurous spirit throughout her life.
June was born and raised in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia to Frances (Nearing) MacDougall and Clifford MacDougall. During childhood June was cared for and adored by a caregivers Lucy and Angus MacDonald, two very special people in her life. At the young age of 17 she left New Waterford to work as a summer nanny for a family visiting Cape Breton from Connecticut, and a few months later at the family’s encouragement, she relocated to Connecticut, USA on November 11th, 1949 to continue her work with the family. June loved the United States and developed many long term and lasting relationships with the many people she met in the various roles throughout her life; while maintaining strong and loving relationships with her family and friends “back home” in New Waterford, Cape Breton by visiting as often as she could. June met and married her first love, Jerome (Jerry) Fuscaldo on April 21, 1951 and they had one son, Michael. June applied for United States citizenship and that dream was realized on May 25, 1956 when she was officially granted citizenship. She was employed with Rosemary Hall, School for Girls in Greenwich, Connecticut. Following the sudden death of her loving and hard working husband Jerry, she raised her son Michael as a single parent. Many years later, she met the second love of her life George DuBois. They married in 1975 and together June and George built an amazing life together; full of love and kindness toward family and friends, travelled all over the world and hosting regularly in their homes in Connecticut and in their beautiful retirement home in Tarpon Springs Florida. June believed in a christian philosophy of sharing any good fortune in life and spent many, many hours of volunteer work through her church in Florida after retirement.
