Born 7 November 1929 in Riverdale, Maryland, to Ashby C. West and Florence Harrington, she was a graduate of Bladensburg High School and became a secretary-bookkeeper. She and her husband Bill retired to New Port Richey in 1979. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church serving on the Altar Guild, and was the treasurer of the Park Lake Estates Women's Club for over 30 years. Muriel loved playing cards with her friends and grandchildren, she played a mean game of Garbage. She was a talented counted cross stitcher and enjoyed crafting with plastic canvas. Muriel loved working crossword puzzles completing three newspaper crosswords each day. She loved any opportunity to travel, visiting several states in this country and many countries in Europe.
Survivors include her daughters Patricia Silvas of Leesburg, Florida, Beverly Oyler, (Alan) of Clermont, Florida, Virginia Pearce of Hagerstown, Maryland, Cynthia Abell (Larry) of Kenai, Alaska, and son David Pearce of Zephyrhills, Florida. Muriel had seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Hospice of Tavares, Florida in her name.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, 13 May 2021 at Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, Florida beginning at 1:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband there.
