Pete Gaitanis

Panagiotis (Pete) Gaitanis, of Holiday, Florida prior long term resident of Chicago, passed away on September 4, 2025. Beloved husband of Dorothea, nee Harris, for 63 years. Loving father of Stella (George) Kreiner, Agnes (Tom) Mihalopoulos, and Nick. Beloved son of the late Nikolaos and Stavroula Gaitanis, Beloved brother of the late Garifalia (the late Constantinos) Vellios, the late Constantinos (the late Maria) Gaitanis, the late Bessie Stamatopoulos, and Athanasia (the late Aristedes) Lialios. Beloved Papou of Emily (Adam) Kozak, Matthew Garcia, Jacqueline (Eric) Josupait, and Adam (Allison) Kreiner, and loving great-grandchildren Evelyn, the late Samuel, Nolan, Miller, Lyla, Eleni, and Sullivan. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Pete was born in Chora, Greece, and immigrated to the United States as a young man. He was a devoted family man of great strength, resilience, and determination, always finding ways to learn and grow. He worked in the restaurant and hotel industry, and took great pride in hard work and providing for his family. He was a beacon of comfort and strength to his family, friends and co-workers, whose presence grounded and elevated those around him. He left the world as he lived, fighting with everything he had.
