

89, of New Port Richey, passed away on Dec, 4, 2011. Moved to Florida from Glendale, NY in 1974. He retired as a wholesale milkman. Served three years in WW II in Battery A 345th AAA AW Battalion and earned six combat campaign stars including the Defense of England … Normandy (D-Day) … Northern France … Central Europe …Ardennes (The Bulge) … Rhineland. After retiring to Florida he served 22 years in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and retired as Division II Captain after serving and protecting the boating public of the Tampa Bay area.
He is to be remembered as a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great- grandfather. He is also known as a fisherman, lover of boats, teacher and friend. He is survived by his wife of 63 yrs, Catherine (Kay); daughter, Katherine and son-in-law, Paul Petersen of Tampa; 5 grandchildren Christine (Stan) Beckwith of Shelter Island, NY; Brian (Shannon) Petersen of Manorville, NY; Matthew (Nicole) Petersen of Shirley, NY; Catherine (Dan) Rasmussen of Shelter Island, NY and Thomas Petersen of Shelter Island, NY. Seven great- grandchildren : Nathan, Faith, Robert, Courtney, Danielle, Thomas and Joseph.
Visitation on Thurs. Dec. 8th, 2-4 & 6-8 at Meadowlawn Funeral Home. Mass on Fri. Dec.9th at 10:00am at Our Lady Queen of Peace RC Church.
