Sylvia was born on March 25, 1941, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Tech High School and carried the values of hard work and dedication with her throughout her life.
On January 8, 1983, she married the love of her life, B.J. (Billy Joe) Gibbs. Together they built a life rooted in faith, service, and devotion to family.
Sylvia had a career in the natural foods industry, working as an administrative assistant. She was a longtime member of Generations Church, where she faithfully served the Lord with passion and joy. One of her greatest ministries was writing the Sunshine Christian Community Center newsletter for over 15 years — a labor of love that reflected her heart for encouraging others and strengthening her community.
Sylvia was also an extraordinarily talented cross-stitch artist. Her detailed handiwork earned her many blue ribbons over the years, a testament to both her skill and patience. She poured creativity and care into every piece she made, leaving behind treasured works for family and friends.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Kelly (Aaron) Horsley; her cherished grandchildren, Benjamin (Barbie) Horsley and Nicolas (Amanda) Horsley; her sister, Linda (Mick) Harrell; and her brother, Jim (Jonelle) Harrell.
Sylvia’s life was marked by faith, service, creativity, and deep love for her family. She will be greatly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
