1923 – 2025
William “Bill” Ancona, age 102, passed away peacefully in Palm Harbor, Florida, on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025. Born in New York City and raised in Queens, Bill built a life grounded in devotion to family, service to his country, and a spirit of warmth and generosity that touched everyone he met. Bill proudly served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 until his Honorable Discharge in 1946. While serving in the Philippines, he operated as an Anti-Aircraft Gunner, carrying out his duties with courage, precision, and steadfast commitment. After returning home, Bill met the love of his life, Vivian, while they were roller-skating dance partners—an elegant and joyful partnership that blossomed into 56 years of marriage, lasting until her passing in 2012. Together they raised their family on Long Island and built a home filled with love, laughter, music, and the comfort of shared
traditions.
Bill also found great joy on the water as an active boater, spending countless days navigating the Long Island waterways he cherished. Bill’s career centered around the automobile industry, where he worked in auto body repair, parts, and service. His knowledge, integrity, and strong work ethic led him to become one of the first Subaru dealers on Long Island, earning him deep respect throughout the community. Above all, Bill’s greatest devotion was to his family. He is survived by his two daughters, Andrea (wife of John) and Susan (wife of Paul); four grandchildren, Paul Jr., Kathleen (wife of Dory), Andrew, and Christopher (husband of
Rachel); and three cherished great-grandchildren.
Music remained a lifelong passion for Bill, especially his love of playing the accordion. His home was always filled with melody, warmth, and his ever-present desire to make others feel welcome. Friends and guests alike knew Bill for his generosity—no one ever left his home hungry, and he always took pride in hosting gatherings that brought people together. After a particularly good visit with friends, he would smile and say to his family, “Good show.”
