
William J. Westerveld, 71, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away October 3, 2025. Born on August 21, 1954 in Paterson, NJ to Robert and Phyllis O'Neill Westerveld, he was raised in Pompton Lakes, NJ. A Beloved uncle, brother, and friend. Bill was known for his warm spirit, his artistic creativity, and his captivating storytelling.
Many of Bill's adult years were spent beautifying the island of St. Lucia where he embraced the people, the culture, the cuisine, the tropical and gardens and learned the local language. He spent his life there and in Florida as a dedicated tree surgeon, combining his love of the outdoors with a passion for horticulture and landscaping. A simple man at heart, he found joy in tending to nature and exploring the world on a motorcycle, enjoying the freedom of the open road.
Bill was thoughtful and kind, always ready with a story or a helping hand. He had a particular fondness for Steak 'n Shake milkshakes, a small pleasure that brought him great happiness.
He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Greg and Janet Renaud of Ankeny, Iowa, six nieces and nephews, seven great nieces and nephews and close friends Jay and Isaac Stuiso of New Port Richey.
Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, his passion for life, and his love of nature will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to share his journey.
Bill's ashes will be spread off the coast of Miami and a celebration of life will be held in New Port Richey at a later date.
