

He was an Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and was a member of VFW Post 1114. He was an Auto Body Mechanic for many years. Bill retired from Leaseway Leasing, then worked part time as a driver for Expressway Dodge. He was raised in Drakesboro, KY. Bill attended Chandler General Baptist Church. He was an avid sprint car fan at Tri-State Speedway and enjoyed working outside around his home.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Ogie and Nellie Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Harper Johnson; sons, Steve (Joyce) of Elberfeld, and Gary (Michelle) of Chandler; daughter, Pamela of Chandler; grandchildren, Kellie Jean, Kevin Johnson, Katie Slepsky, Andrew Johnson, and Ashley Johnson; 7 great grandchildren; and sister, Hazel Durall of Beechmont, KY.
A Memorial Service will be 1 PM, Monday, January 23, 2012, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Rev. Josh Dimmett, with burial at a later date. Friends may visit Monday 10-1 PM at the funeral home.
