Carl Ray McKenzie, 68, of Newburgh passed away on Sunday, March 21, 2021. He was born October 5, 1952 in Evansville to the late George and Nellie (Majors) McKenzie.
He was an Army veteran, serving with the Military Police in Germany. Carl retired from Kight Lumber after 24 years, then worked part time as a security officer at Tropicana Casino in Evansville. He served on the 1971 reunion committee for Bosse High School and was actively planning their upcoming 50th year celebration. Carl enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his son. He was of the Christian faith.
Carl was preceded in death by sisters, Michelle and Wanda, and brother, Bobby.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wilma (Henze) McKenzie; son, Erik McKenzie; daughter, Conjetta McKenzie Schoon (Ryan); grandchildren, Eliza Finn and Jaxson McKenzie; niece, Kadriene McKenzie and nephew, Michael McKenzie (Jessica), both whom he helped raise; brothers, Thomas, Gary and Michael, Sr.; sisters, Linda Afshari and Rehna Thurber, and many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Rev. Gary McKenzie and his son, Erik. Kapperman Post 44 American Legion will do a walk through and military service at the funeral home. Friends may visit Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
