

Dr. Ramaswamy had been a practicing Orthopedic Surgeon for 50 years. He was a Clinical Instructor for the University of Pittsburgh Medical School; Staff Surgeon at multiple hospitals including Charleroi Monesson, Mckeeson, and Monsour Hospitals in Pennsylvania. He and his wife moved to Newburgh in 1977 where he built a private practice and also joined St. Mary’s Warrick as an Orthopedic Surgeon. In 1993 he moved to West Frankfort, IL where he had a private orthopedic practice. He retired in December, 2000.
He was an avid golfer, was considered to be a cutting edge Orthopedic Surgeon, and received referrals from Professional NFL teams, such as the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was one of the first to perform reconstructive knee surgery. He was generous to family and patients, known to accept pies for payment. He will be greatly missed to all.
He is survived by his daughters, Gidget Ramaswamy of Evansville and Alison Bodor and husband, Brandon, (currently stationed in Afghanistan) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Shea Riley, Maya Warner, and Piper Stefanovich.
Services will be held at 5:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2011 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. Friends may visit Monday from 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
