Daniel T. Kimmel

Daniel “Dan” Thomas Kimmel, 64, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Linda E. White Hospice House with his wife, Laura, and stepdaughter, Emily, by his side. He was born December 27, 1956 to the late Charles P. Kimmel, Sr. and the late Violet (Norrington) Biddle.

He graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School in 1974 and soon after enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After his military service, he worked at Furrow’s and Lowe’s. Most recently, he had been a dedicated team member at Toyota – TMMI since 2002, where he was admired and respected by many.

Dan was a devoted husband and was happiest spending time at home with his wife, Laura. He was an auto enthusiast and kept up with the latest auto trends and models. He liked working on and taking care of his vehicles. His hobbies also included going to the shooting range for target practice, watching NFL football and going to the movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Daniel Joseph Kimmel; sister, Karen Kimmel Longest; and mother-in-law, Margarette Nebbia.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Laura (Lumagui) Kimmel; daughters, Sonya Hinderliter and Ashley Rodgers; stepdaughter, Emily Walker, with whom he shared a special bond; brothers, Charles Kimmel, Jr. and Steven (Beverley) Kimmel; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who provided care, comfort and support to Dan and family in his final days: hospice nurses, Debbie Nelson, Heather and all the staff at Linda E. White Hospice House; Rekha Tummala, MD, Suzanne Bersch, NP, Heather Hawkins, RN; dear family friends, Chuck and Cindy McDaniel, Tom and Donna Ancona and Sue Memmer; Toyota – TMMI co-workers and friends, Lisa Ritcheson, Pablo Ramirez, Bryce Richardt, Cathy Reed, Cherish Benge and Tim Massie.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
