

David Gentry, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. He passed away at his home in Newburgh, IN, surrounded by the love of his family, and was carried by angels into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
David was born in Alton, IL to the late William "Pete" Gentry and Lenora Fultz Gentry, on July 31, 1951. He graduated from Alton High School and shortly after joined the United States Army. He served his country with great honor during the Vietnam War. His 38 year career with the Commonwealth of Kentucky included being a proud member of the Kentucky State Police, Park Ranger, and License Examiner. He attended Lewis and Clark Community College.
David was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord with all his heart. He founded Grace Outreach Church, where he served as senior pastor for 20 years. Teaching the Bible and sharing about Jesus was his passion and calling. He was a member of Living Word Christian Church in Newburgh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, including two very special grandmothers, Azlean Gentry and Ruth Martin, and several brothers-in-law.
David was a wonderful and loving husband, father, and Papaw. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family, who will cherish his memory and will always miss his presence and humor.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 47 years, Ann; 2 beautiful daughters Julie Mills and Lisa Siebers (Brian), and 4 grandchildren who he absolutely adored, Maci Mills, Micah Mills, Ivy Foster, and Lillian Siebers. David is also survived by 9 sisters, Cheryl Chippendale, Pat Twitchell, Caroline Gentry, Malia Gentry (Fitz), Betty Jane Beyers (Bob), Linda Tolle (Jeff), Debbie Mitchem, Paula Hagen (Perry), and Sheri Carrington. One aunt, Mary Fulks (Charles), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trooper Island, a free summer camp for underprivileged children age 10-12, operated by the KSP on Dale Hollow Lake.
A Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2025 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Tommy Epperson. Family and friends may visit Friday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
