

Jean Hoffman, 81, life-long resident of Newburgh, IN, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. She had previously been a resident at Transcendent Nursing Home where she received special care. She was born August 15, 1931.
She graduated from Newburgh High School and loved attending their annual reunions. Jean was a lifelong member of Newburgh United Methodist Church, where she had been the Sunday School Secretary for over 40 years, assisted with Sunday School and VBS, participated in the nursing home ministry and was a member of the Oak Folks group, International SS Class and United Methodist Women. Her hobbies included needlework (many given as gifts and for the UMW annual auction), growing plants and reading religious material, especially that of Billy Graham.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, William and Sadie Hoffman; and siblings, Albert Hoffman (Winifred), Edna Lenn (Homer) and Elsie Mae Eiselein (Dan).
She is survived by her nephew, Steve Lenn (Libby); nieces, Tara French (Bill), Janine Moore (Frank), Yvonne White (Chuck); cousin, Wilbur Keeney; great nephews, Jon Lenn (Liz) and Christopher White (Marisha); and great nieces, Malissa McAlister (Richard) and Stacey Webb (JP).
Special thanks to all the wonderful caregivers affiliated with the VNA Charlier Hospice Center for all the love, dedication and special care that they gave Jean. Also, we extend our appreciation to all her thoughtful and loyal friends at NUMC for their cards, prayers and visits.
Services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Newburgh United Methodist Church, 4178 State Road 261, officiated by Rev. Chris Nunley, with burial at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, and 10:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the church.
