

He began his professional career as a commercial printer with Palladium-Item Newspaper. He moved to Evansville and worked as a manager at Krieger Ragsdale, and later retired from Service Tool & Plastics in Henderson, where he was a purchasing agent. Malcolm was a 27 year member of Southport Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis Scottish Rite, and Murat Shrine Temple. He was also a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church and Tri-State Corvette Club. Malcolm attended Indiana University and was an avid IU basketball fan. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his Harley Davidson. Other hobbies included woodworking, golf, and in his younger years, playing softball.
Malcolm was preceded in death by his parents, Lyell and Hattie Sweetwood; and brother, Don W. Sweetwood.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sara (Dunbar) Sweetwood; daughters, Stacey (Tony) Mitchell and Andrea (Darren) Smith; sons, Michael (Tonya) and Ryan (Jessica) Sweetwood; grandchildren, Todd (Jill) Nine, Abbie, Jordan, Maria, and Dakota Mitchell, Cameron, Cullen, and Carson Sweetwood, Reagan Smith, Carter and Cale Sweetwood; great-grandchildren, Liam Mitchell and Payton Mitchell-Roseberry; brother, Ronald (Dorothy) Sweetwood; sister, Mary Anna Roemke; sister-in-law, Ruth Sweetwood; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved dogs, Kelli and Harley D. Sweetwood.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 14, 2016, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 4200 Epworth Road, officiated by Rev. Thomas Vanselow, with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM, with a Masonic Service at 6:00 PM, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, and Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
