Pauline Merwin Milam, 81, of Newburgh, IN, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Atria Assisted Living in Newburgh. She was born July 12, 1934, in Clear Lake, IA to the late Chauncey and Alice (Eyestone) Merwin.
She and her husband, Sam, owned and operated Wilson Office Supply and Quimby Rubber Stamps in Paducah, KY. She earned her Business Associates degree from Jackson Business College.
Pauline was a member of the front porch club at Atria in her later years. She enjoyed sports her whole life, playing basketball and cheerleading in high school, softball and volleyball in community recreation leagues as an adult, and cheering for her favorite teams, the Indiana Pacers and the St. Louis Cardinals. She also cherished the camaraderie and challenge of her duplicate bridge clubs, as well as any gathering with friends. Pauline loved “doing for” her family and spending time with them. She also loved animals, especially dogs – hers and everybody’s. Always up for a joke, Pauline laughed easily and often.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Milam; her parents; and 10 siblings, Elizabeth Ebaugh (Donald), Helen Anderson (Jim), Art Merwin (Mabel), Kathryn Zirbel (Stan), Jim Merwin, all of Clear Lake, IA, Jane Levisay (Jim) of Ponca, NE, Doris Bowman (John), Althea McClendon (Jim), both of Jackson, TN, Ralph Merwin (Helen) of Franklin, TN, and David Merwin (Judy) of Portland, OR.
