

Rita Joyce Bradley Day, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and cousin peacefully passed away on June 30, 2022, at Hamilton Pointe Health & Rehabilitation Center, 3800 Eli Place, Newburgh, IN with two of her loving children holding each of her hands. She was 79 years old, born on November 25, 1942, to the late Harriett Maedean Vittitow-Bradley and Charles Raymond Bradley. She was married to the late Walter Thomas Day.
She is survived by a daughter, Tonja (Brian) Day-Allen, and sons, Gregory (Kristi) Day, Eric (Lora) Day and Craig (Tammy) Day. In addition to her children, Rita is mourned by her beautiful grandchildren, Brody & Brianna Allen, Jessica Day-Miller, Jonathan Day, Josh Day, Erica Day, Andrew Day, Mitchell Day, Meghan Day, Makaylah Day and eight great grandchildren. Rita’s was dearly loved by her surviving siblings who are sister, Carolyn Elaine (Paul) Belanger, and brothers, Charles Raymond Bradley Jr. and Richard Wayne (Sue) Bradley. Rita has loving nieces, nephews, and loving cousins.
Rita, our loving, compassionate, resourceful, imaginative, creative, gentle, romantic, ever-evolving gracious lady, was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed bridge, golf, many sports, fashion, swimming, waterskiing, crafting and entertaining to bring people together in beautiful ways and she also provided many, many memorable holidays for her entire family. She loved designing soft furnishing for the homes of family and friends and she created beautiful, comfortable homes for her own family. She traveled extensively in her lifetime and had a deep passion for music and dancing. She deeply cared for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as her siblings and cousins. She graduated with the Class of 1960 from Morganfield High School in Union County, KY and began college at Henderson Community College, at age 17 with a passion to become a teacher. Quickly her call to stop her education came because she wanted to help her mother provide for her siblings. Soon after quitting college she married Tom Day and started her family whilst raising her sister, following her mother’s death. Rita enjoyed working for Morganfield National Bank, Old National Bank, and Evansville Muscular Dystrophy Association.
A Prayer Service and Mass will be 2:00 p.m., Friday July 8, 2022 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, Indiana, officiated by Fr. Freddie Byrd. Family and friends may visit afterwards from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
