

With great sadness, the family of Stephen Patrick Bruggenschmidt, age 72, announce that he went to Heaven on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. He was born March 17, 1951 to the late Margaret (Graves) and Max Bruggenschmidt.
Steve worked as a supervisor at Alcoa for 40 years where he made many lifelong friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating with his wife, Patty, children, grandsons and granddaughters. Steve’s family was the treasure in his life. He has a tremendous sense of humor and enjoyed cookouts and celebrating the holidays in a large way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Bruggenschmidt; granddaughter, Kate Bruggenschmidt, and infant sister, Bonnie.
Steve is survived by his stepmother, Mildred Bruggenschmidt; children, Adam Bruggenschmidt (Elizabeth Manabet), Eric Bruggenschmidt (Ashlee), Andrea Wagner (Jeremy) and Carrie Bruggenschmidt; stepdaughters, Amanda Thompson (Brian Csukas) and Jill Johnson (Mike); grandchildren, Emma Bruggenschmidt, Natalie, Connor and Grant Wagner and Andy and Gabe Johnson; siblings, Anna Bruggenschmidt, Mary Brothers, MaDonna Hummel, Susie Newkirk (Tom), David Bruggenschmidt (Charlynn) Anita Vos (Jon) and Norma Bruggenschmidt; mother-in-law, Bert Thompson; brother and sister-in-laws, Gary Thompson (Cheryl), Barrie Fournier and Cheryl Plotts, and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Mike Claypool. Family and friends may visit Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
