

Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Flowers (McConnell); parents, Thomas and Edna Flowers (Dressel); his 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Robert and Jeanette Hayes, Jim and Donna Hermsdorfer and Harvey and Billie Lewis, and by his wife's brother, Charles McConnell.
Tom is survived by his son, Kurt Flowers of Evansville, IN and son and daughter-in-law, Karl and Amy Flowers of Frisco, TX; 6 grandsons, Lee Flowers, Logan (and Xiomara) Flowers, Zach (and Lauren) Flowers, Kyle (and Katlyn) Flowers, Jack (and Kaylin Flowers) and Charlie Flowers; and 8 great grandchildren, Mason, Colton, Charlotte, Annabelle, Vincent, Lilly, Emily and Chandler.
Tom was born August 24, 1931 in Indianapolis, IN to Thomas and Edna Flowers. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and then honorably served in the US Navy, primarily serving as an air traffic controller at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. After the Navy, Tom married Barbara McConnell in Indianapolis, IN and the two moved to Bloomington, IN where Tom finished his Marketing Degree at Indiana University while Barbara worked for the school. After graduation Tom worked for Marathon Oil Company living in Ohio and Indiana until his retirement. He was an avid Indiana University sports fan and was very excited Indiana University made it to the Rose Bowl this year. Tom was also very active in the Newburgh American Legion and a member of the Newburgh United Methodist Church.
Tom's Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m., January 17, 2026 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Barbara at Rose Hill Cemetery in Newburgh.
