

He was a member of Newburgh United Methodist Church where he was active in the Pairs & Spares Sunday School class and served on the UMC Financial Committee. He was a Freemason with St. John Lodge #24, AF&AM in Shinnston, WV; a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Evansville Duplicate Bridge Club, Newburgh Senior Citizens, and the Warrick Tea Party. He was a Veteran of the US Army where he served as a Sargent in the Infantry in the Asiatic and Pacific theatre during WWII. Bill graduated from West Virginia University in 1951 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for RCA Corp. for 20 years where he designed radios and received a patent in his name for radio technology. He owned his own business, Skidmore Associates, in Indianapolis, before coming to Newburgh to work at AMF Potter & Brumfield Division in Princeton as Section Product Manager. He then worked at River City Electric Supply in Evansville. Bill enjoyed fishing, volleyball and playing the trombone.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Patricia; sisters, Mary and Edith; and brother, Edwin, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Smith (Daniel) of Westfield, IN; sons, William Skidmore, Jr. of Noblesville, IN and David Skidmore of Cottonwood Heights, UT; daughter, Elizabeth McConnell of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah and Rebecca Smith, Robert, Michael, David and Matthew Skidmore, and Haley McConnell; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 24, 2013, at Newburgh United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Chris Nunley, with burial at Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed at the cemetery by American Legion Kapperman Post 44. Friends may visit Friday, 2-7 PM, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel.
