

Darlene Wiley, age 87, of Burr Ridge, Illinois passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021. Darlene was born November 6, 1933. Beloved wife of 69 1/2 years to John E. Wiley; Dear mother to Dawn (John) Yanahan, The late John Wiley Jr., and the late Jeffery Wiley; Cherished mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and great aunt; Cousin and special friend to so many.
After raising their family in Oak Lawn, Darlene and John enjoyed 25 years of retirement in Mesa, AZ. Darlene loved the sunshine, the mountains, and the hummingbirds that visited her desert garden. Darlene and John loved to hike in the Sonoran desert and enjoyed traveling to so many of our beautiful National Parks. When it was time to move back closer to their family, Darlene and John settled in Burr Ridge where they met a whole new circle of friends.
Darlene always enjoyed hosting wonderful family gatherings. She was an avid, lifelong reader. Darlene loved spending hours in her Midwest rose garden and later in her Southwest desert garden. Throughout her life, Darlene volunteered in church, school, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the public library. In recent years, she helped in the gardens in their senior community in Burr Ridge.
In April, the Wiley family suffered a tragic loss when John Jr. and Jeffery, passed away from Covid-19. They continue to rely on their faith, family and friends during this very difficult time.
A celebration of life will be held when it is safe to gather together. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, a charity near to their hearts.
