Darryl J Cruse

Darryl J. Cruse was born on July 11, 1982, in Chicago, Illinois, to Kenneth Robinson and the late Darla Cruse. He graduated from Hyde Park Academy in 2000 with honors and went on to attend college for a few semesters. He became a health nut when he worked for Bonne Sante in Hyde Park, he later took his talents to the YMCA where he worked and then owned a smoothie bar. Some time later in 2007, he started working for the United States Postal Service, this July would have been his 19th year of pounding the pavement.

Darryl never asked for much out of life. He didn't chase fame, he didn't seek the spotlight, and he wasn't interested in fancy things. He found his happiness in a few simple things, a long conversation about the past, music, old tv shows and movies, and working hard.

Darryl transitioned from this life on February 27, 2026. He was preceded in death by his mother Darla Cruse;, his grandmothers, Ethel Cruse and Joyce Robinson-Pope; and his youngest, sister Ashley Cruse.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his father Kenneth (Renee); sisters Tai (Darrell), Janee and Toi b.k.a Phat; his brothers, Jeremy and Jemar (Lisa), his aunt, Janet b.k.a. J (Raymond), uncles William (Anita) and Brandon; cousins, Julia and Sarah; several nieces and nephews; brothers from another mother sisters from another mister; and a host of family and friends.
