Doris Estella Wallace (Gibbons) born May 3, 1927 in Vandalia, IL to Donald and Litha Gibbons. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert C. Wallace and son, David(Debra) Wallace. She is survived by a brother Leon (Mary Jane) Gibbons a sister Margaret Carroll (Gibbons), her daughter, Melody(Gary) Bricault and five grandchildren; Elizabeth(Nate) Herzog, Dr. Christine Bricault, Jeffrey(Heather) Wallace, Kristin Wallace and Lindsey Wallace.

Doris is a graduate of St. Elmo High School and received a nursing degree from the Deaconess Nursing School, St. Louis, MO. She married Robert Wallace in 1949 and resided in Illinois her entire life, primarily in the Oak Lawn area.

She was active in local and statewide politics, was a member of the League of Women Voters and also ran for a seat on the Oak Lawn Board of Education. She was a member of Trinity Covenant Church where she practiced her faith and enjoyed the company of fellow believers.

A memorial service to be held in Oak Lawn at a later date at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org
