Mr. Cunningham was Old School police, something we need more of today. Thank you for your service.  It was an honom to know you.

JIM was a special gift to us all. He brought a depth of understanding and a professionalism acquired from his years on the front line of good vs. evil. He knew the players and how to deal with them. And all this he brought to the FBI in those calamitous days of "rage and revolution". He was a credit to the CPD and a admired friend to the FBI.

Jim was one of the finest and most brilliant Police Officers that I ever had the privelege to work with.  What a whit and sense of humor. God bless the Cunningham family.

Dearest Therese and kids,

America was always safe as long as Jim was around. 
I haven't seen him in decades, but in my memory Jim stood 10 feet tall.
Honor, duty, country seemed like his motto – along with “for God and family.”
He was the best of the best – everyone who knew him was blessed, except for the bad guys.
Therese and kids – Jim will never be far from you. He still loves you with his big heart. 
It was an honor to know him.

Thank you for all you did and for the sacrifices you made for the whole family. Your humor and the sound of your laughter will always be in my heart. I will miss you every day. I'll be seeing you…..
