Belated condolences. My family lived down Washtenaw street from the Andreasons. Johnny,s father coached the Ridge Morgan Park team we were on. He coached in a fatherly way that I tried to use when I coached our sons. An old man now with time, this evening I've looked up some Kennedy park boys I used to play with; glad I knew Johnny and the Andreasons. Peace to all who read these words. Michael Norris

Not a week goes by that I don't think of your dear son & brother Johnny. He was always so kind to me and always brought a smile to my face.  Johnny was the perfect gentleman too! I always enjoyed visiting with him in person or over the phone when he would call to chat with Bill. He was so brave fighting his cancer and never gave up.  Thank you for letting us share in his final weeks and allowing us to come and visit him - meant the world to us.  Johnny I'll never forgot your smile and kindness - you were one of the good ones!

He was one of a kind, I first met Johnny, in the 70's and he was a reckless, boy, and then he became a gentle man...he always had a smile on his face and always made me laugh. He would tell me stories of when him and Kevin and the boys grew up together. '
My last favorite moment was when Johnny came to our beach in Manteno and actually got in the water (it was so hot), and said"this was a great day" with Kevin, Frank, and BeBe. we had cheeseburgers and said 'this must be what paradise is like". I know your in paradise now, golfing and swimming in that glorious water..and out of pain with that great smile on your face, always my friend'

Dear Karen, Janet, and Mrs. Andreason,

I think of all of you and John often. He fought a brave fight, and even in spite of his diagnosis and condition, he defied the odds, and never gave up hope. He was an inspiration to those of us who were privileged to take part in his care, and he will never be forgotten. He was one of the best!

Johnny Andreason was one the good guys we hung out with as kids in Kennedy Park,  on Washtenaw, and at St. Cajetan.  He had a lot of guts even as little kid and that showed during his illness. It had been 40+ years since I had seen John when I met up with him again a few years ago. I was impressed by his thoughts of other people, his connections to so many, and his faith.  John and I had a special connection in that our birthdays are a few days apart and they were marked in a sad way when my cousin Pat died during that tragic “birthday week”  in Fifth Grade.  Just as John and I thought of Pat especially at that time each year, I will say a few more prayers each June for both of my companions who are gone now.  God bless you,  John.

It was truly a pleasure getting to know John, though sad it was only through his illness.  When you meet people during life's challenges, you get to know them as real people, and John was one of the truly good ones. When I do the work I do, I often think of John as an inspiration to continue to fight this awful disease called brain cancer. I send a big hug to you all.

Just heard about Johnny, and was saddened that he lost his brave battle. I have great memories of our high school days hanging around Red's and Kennedy Park.

Dear Andreason Family - Johnny was such a sweet, kind and gentle man who was loved by so many. I have many, many great memories of our days at the park, with older brothers watching over us. Your Johnny was a true gem, a diamond in the rough! I hope he's enjoying some good golf up in Heaven now, in peace and free from the pain of his illness. We are all better for having known John. I am so sorry to hear about Johnny.  I had the pleasure of playing golf with him several times on trips to Chicago and enjoyed every minute of it.  He was a great guy and a pleasure to be around - my prayers go out to the family and friends,  I will miss his positive attitude and kind ways.  I loved talking golf and Cubbies with him - he will be in Heaven hitting it long and straight and pulling some strings to get the Cubs to the Championship.  Miss you John.

My heart goes to the Andreason family. They gave John the absolute best care during his illness. I especially want to thank his sisters Karen and Janet as well as Mrs. Andreason. John was a great friend and I am so much better off for having known him for more than 50 years. He was of extremely strong character. I many times looked up to his strength of character annd truly admired him. Iam not always sure of everything but I am 100% certain our great friend Johnny is already in heaven. God bless him. We will all miss him.

Dear Karen and Janet,

It's very hard to be so far away and be unable to express my sadness for John's passing.  He really was a great guy and a quiet inspiration for so many. 

I have alot of great memories from KP and the one that stands our is, no one got to first base faster than John.  Don't quite know how that applies, but one of many fond rememberances.   He'll be missed.

I am really going to miss John and all the good times we've shared ever since first grade.Through our school years and latter on our mutual love of music.I had the honor of attending some great shows with him over the years.I am really going to miss that.He Was a great person to know.I pray that someday all of us will be together again with him.
