Early in life, she demonstrated a commitment to God and to the service of others. The family, friends, co-workers and the many who knew and loved Marvel will miss her deeply. Marvel started out living in Savannah, Georgia, as she moved to Chicago with her parents and older sister at an early age.
She loved Chicago, particularly the skyline and Michigan Avenue during the Christmas season. She and her family lived for many years in an apartment complex overlooking the lake. Marvel was simply one of the best. She loved decorating, she collected incredible art, and when she purchased a vehicle her favorite color was black on black. She didn’t drive a lot, so many of us waited for Marv to sell and competed to be first in line.
All of us appreciated her sincerity, sensitivity, and kindness. When you became her friend you felt her love, her caring and willingness to help, if you needed something. If Marv knew you were in trouble and needed assistance, suddenly you had what you needed. She shared herself and what she had unselfishly and generously. There can be no better person than one who cares and shares. She left us far too soon.
Her co-workers at Abbott, from where she recently retired after 26 years as a Senior Human Resourses Executive, and those she served with on the Board of the Center for Conflict Resolution (CCR), will miss her. All of us will be deprived of enjoying her contributions just wished she would have had a bit more time to share her heart.
As mentioned , Marvel’s parents preceded her in death along with her beloved older sister, Mavis Coleman. Marv loved her family. She thought about them often and they are surely celebrating their reunion in Heaven.
Private Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 10:45 AM for Marvel. If desired, these services can be viewed live at the following link using Google Chrome or an updated browser. https://asimplestreaming.com/marvel
