I am so saddened to hear of Officer Mike Jakobs death.  I met Mike when he came to my business on a police call.  He told me he would check on us regularly after that.  I didn't really believe that he would, but since that day he came by at least twice a week to make sure we were safe.  He also gave me his cell and card in case we ever needed anything.  I was beginning to wonder where he had been for the last month when he wasn't coming around.  What a loss.  I will miss seeing him and my heart goes out to his family.  He was truly an angel.  Rest in peace Mike, you were a gentleman and an outstanding policeman.

Dad, I love you so much. I wish I told you that more often. I truly miss you and everything we have done together. I know you're watching over the family. We'll all try our best to make you proud. I love you.

To the family of Mike, I just want all of you to know what a wonderful man and Police Officer Mike was. I had the pleasure of getting to know Mike when he came to 022, and then was lucky enough to work 2nd watch with him. He was a true professional and extremely knowledgeable when it came to police work. But much more than that he was an amazing person and someone I'm proud to call a friend.

My sincerest condolences to Mike's family.  I was lucky enough to have worked along side Mike on the tact team for several years and consider those times some of the best of my life.  Mike was a true friend and an excellent police officer and I will always look back on those experiences fondly.  He will truly be missed and he will never be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear about Mike. There are certain times when you look back on your career and remember the good times and the good people you used to work with. Mike was a good policeman and a good friend and I always enjoyed seeing him. He will be missed.

Mike, I was lucky enough to get to know you both personally and professionally these past couple years. Your passion for being a great Chicago Police Officer has been an inspiration to me as well as many other officers. Your passion for being great was not left at work. I have had a chance to spend time with your entire family and it's obvious you were a great father. You have been there for my grandmother as well as my daughter and for that I can't thank you enough. I will remember picking up Emma and watching you smile as you said bye to your buddy for the day. Mike, I still am in shock that you are gone from us.  It was my honor to have known you and call you my friend.  We had many a good times while in the Academy together with class 91-9B.  I'll never forget the day that we made that crazy video for the Cultural Awareness class, and we were following the Fire Dept around on all their calls.
