Rosemary “Rosie” Cannon, nee Niedojadlo, 85, passed bravely into the arms of our Lord on January 16, 2025. Rosie was surrounded by her family when she passed away peacefully at Ascension Alexian Brothers Hospital. Beloved wife of the late William "Jim" Cannon; loving mother of Michael (Kate) Cannon, Jeffrey (Leah) Cannon, Laura (Robert) Gawel and Mark (Michelle) Cannon; half-sister, daughter of the late Jim Cannon, Amanda (Tim) Moudry; cherished grandma Rosie of Meagan (Josh), Jacob (Alexis), Colton, Dean (Abigail), Declan (Allison), Luke, Kelsey Rose (Jacob), McKenzie, Mason, Ellie and Cannon; great-grandma Rosie of Hayden and Lottie Rose; proud aunt of many nieces and nephews; dearest cousin and close friend of many.
Rosemary was truly a force to be reckoned with. She had a lengthy career at Amoco/BP Oil, as well as various law firms in Chicago. She was incredibly active in her parish, St. Turibius, and was instrumental in the creation and vitality of the Sports Boosters, Band Boosters and Scouting programs. She was also a very active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Turibius Church.
Rosemary was one of the most generous, caring and loving people. She was always present for a friend or family member who needed her help. She was quick to solve problems and offer sage advice, often with a sense of humor. Everyone on the Southwest Side of Chicago knew her simply as “Rosie”, and knew they could always count on her.
Rosemary left a void that cannot ever be filled. Her absolute commitment to her family will be cherished by many generations of Cannons, present and future. She loved us all with the same intensity and passion she felt for God and the Catholic religion. She will be missed by many but never, ever forgotten by any. Godspeed, Rosie!
