Thomas J. Bukiri

Thomas J. Bukiri, age 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Tinley Park, on Monday, October 23rd, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Jacqueline L. (nee Shelton) Bukiri. Thomas was born in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Peter and Sadie (nee Benett) Bukiri. He is the beloved father of, and survived by his daughter Kim (nee Bukiri) Laidlaw; Thomas Peter (Tess Balagtas), cherished grandfather of Craig Laidlaw (Nicole Lurgio) Jake Bukiri (Lauren Winn), and Aric Bukiri, and proud great-grandfather of Ryan, Emma and Tommy Laidlaw.

Tom worked for TransWorld Airlines for 35 years ending his career as a trustee for the IAMAW. He and his wife Jackie were active members of St. Michael the Archangel Church when his children were young, and St. Mary Star of the Sea Church.

Tom was an avid softball player for TWA, that led him to coaching baseball teams for both his son Tom, and grandson Craig, through West Lawn Little League and Midway Baseball Association. He and Jackie were also very active in the St. Jude Hockey Club as well as Brother Rice Hockey Club with their son Tom, and they supported their daughter Kim in her intramural bowling and track activities.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Thomas that will be held on Monday, October 30th, 2023 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 West 103rd Street, Oak Lawn, Illinois. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 with prayers at Blake-Lamb beginning at 9:00 am, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church. Interment will follow the mass at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
