It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Alline Piercy, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend on April 19, 2022, in Vista, California.
Alline was born on January 24, 1921, in Glasgow, Kentucky to Neva and Roscoe Taylor, the eldest of six children. When Alline was eighteen she married William Delma Piercy. William and Alline enjoyed 65 years of marriage, raising four children, until William's death in 2004.
In addition to her parents and husband, Alline was preceded in death by her brothers, Eldon Taylor and Elmus Taylor, sister, Jean Ellis, and eldest son William Royce Piercy.
Alline is survived by her son Roger Wayne Piercy (Marsha) Greenfield Indiana, daughter Brenda Joyce Merritt, Vista, California, and daughter Sharon Yvonne Peterson (John), Oceanside, California, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and several nephews. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Frances Scowden, Indianapolis, Indiana and Shirley Jo DeVasher, Greenwood, Indiana.
Alline was known for her servant’s heart and her gift of hospitality. She offered meals, visited the ill, opened her home, and anywhere she could, lend a hand. Alline left a legacy of extraordinary friendship, love, and faith to her family and friends. She will be missed as she was loved, greatly.
Alline’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers at Rosemary Warmlands Senior Care for the exceptional and loving care, smiles, and comfort they provided during the last months of her life. We will always be grateful.
A memorial service will be held at Eternal Hills Mortuary in Oceanside, California on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., and graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m. immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that Alline be honored by donating to AND 2 FISHES which is an organization that feeds meals to anyone that needs one. This organization was very important to her and she volunteered with them for many years.
If this is what you would like to do please make check out to “UMC Vista” and in the memo line annotate “And 2 Fishes in memory of Alline Piercy”.
