It is with great sadness that the family of Antonia S. Parra announces her passing after battling a lengthy illness on Monday, March 29, 2011, at the age of 81. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Francisco Parra, she was preceded in death by her son Francisco Javier Parra and is also survived by her daughters Maria Nunez, Laura Lomeli, Leticia Parra, Angelica Parra, Lorena Parra, Sofia Eckert, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Antonia will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
She was born in Tecuala, Nayarit on July 24, 1929 one of 6 children. On December 20, 1957 Antonia married Francisco and after several years of marriage they immigrated to the United States. She always strived on becoming an American Citizen, and in 1998 she achieved that goal. She lived in Encinitas California where she and her husband began their flower cultivation business. With the success of their business they expanded to Vista where that also became their main residence.
Antonia always wanted to help out those in need, so she and her husband pioneered a charity group that began with just them. 32 years later and to this day they have had over 100 volunteers and have donated tons of food, blankets, toys and bare necessities to orphanages and the less fortunate in Tijuana, Baja California Mexico. An active member in the St. Francis of Assisi Church, Antonia would take part in many church groups and functions. Her contributions to the church functions would consist of making and donating food for fundraisers, volunteering her time and hosting bible studies.
Antonia’s main focus in raising her children was to show them love and teach them to be compassionate and charitable. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will always hold a special place in all of our hearts and those lives that she has touched.
