She was born on December 21, 1940 in San Diego, California to Malcolm and Dorothy (Hargett) Campbell. She graduated from Helix High School in La Mesa, California in 1958. After high school, she worked in a bank for nearly ten years. After the birth of her son, she was a cafeteria assistant for the local school district, a job she continued until her retirement in 2006. On March 18, 1966, she married Victor Robert Kotula, Jr. and they were married until his death in October 2000. Barbara enjoyed doing crossword puzzles,sudoku and watching the news.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, her parents, her brother Stuart Campbell and her brother Malcolm Lee Campbell.
She is survived by her brother Kenny, her son, Kevin, and his wife, Dana, her grandson, Kyle, step-grandchildren, Michael, Sean, and Cheyenne and step great-grandchildren Marie and James, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff at Cabrillo Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Barbara in her final days, especially Nicole, Mirna, and Brenda.
No services are planned and the internment will be private.
