OCEANSIDE, CA- It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Ann (Huff) Ledet announce her passing into eternal life on October 20, 2018. Barbara was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana on December 30, 1936 to W.G.“Bill” and Jessie Huff. She graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1954 after which she attended Draughn’s Business School in Baton Rouge, LA. Shortly thereafter, she met and fell in love with a handsome Marine officer, LT. Rodney H. Ledet. They married 3 months after meeting. Together, they began the gypsy life of the marine corps; moving from base to base every 2-3 years. The family began their California adventure in 1972 when Rodney received orders to Camp Pendleton. Two years later, the family home was purchased in Oceanside; the home in which they both passed. Barbara was employed by Oceanside Unified School District from 1974-1977. In 1977 she attended Deloux School of Beauty and became a self-employed nail technician for about 35 years. She will be fondly remembered for her humor, colorful personality, love of life, love of family and her unending/never ending story telling! She was predeceased by her beloved husband and her parents. She will be deeply missed by her four children, Lora Ledet Manzo (Guido), William “Al” Ledet, Rodney H. Ledet II and Dana Dianne Ledet; two granddaughters, Melanie Manzo Duchateau (Nolan) and Marissa Manzo Taylor (Vincenzo) and two great-granddaughters, Madison Reese Duchateau and Loren Ashlie Duchateau. Barbara was a devout member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Oceanside. She wished to be cremated, and the remains of both Barbara and Rod will be scattered at sea.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home in Oceanside on January 12, 2019. Friends and family are welcome to attend. Memorial donations in her name to the San Diego Humane Society www.sdhumane.org.
