Craig was born on November 4, 1944, in San Diego, California, and raised in Carlsbad. A proud graduate of Carlsbad High School (Class of 1962), he went on to attend San Diego State University before serving honorably in the United States Army. After his service, Craig earned his law degree from Western State University College of Law in 1978.
For over 40 years, Craig maintained a respected private law practice in North San Diego County, where he focused on criminal defense and plaintiff-side personal injury. Known for his sharp mind, tireless work ethic, and deep sense of justice, Craig built a reputation as a compassionate and principled advocate.
More important than his professional accomplishments, Craig's true devotion was to his family. He was a loving and committed husband to Robin and a proud and involved father to their four children — Christine, Ryan, Elizabeth, and Red. Craig cherished his ten beloved grandchildren — Sam, Sadie, Charlie, Ryan, Miles, Carson, Lilah, Beckett, Kaileigh, and Abraham. He found great joy in coaching his children’s baseball and softball teams, gathering with family and friends, and cheering on the Padres, Chargers, and Aztecs through every high and low season.
Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Alene and Wait Griswold. He is survived by his beloved wife, Robin; his children and their families; and his siblings, Wait Griswold, Richard Griswold, and Judi Schwei — along with many lifelong friends.
He will be remembered for his humor, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the stories he told, and the values he passed down.
