

Edna was born in Waipahu, Oahu, Hawaii on September 27, 1917 to Nabe and Ijuro Higa. She had five brothers and five sisters. She worked in the pineapple fields in Hawaii from a young age and was later a sought-after waitress at several Hawaiian hotels and country clubs. Edna married Wilbur Shinso Isa in 1937 and had three children. Wilbur and Edna raised their children in Hawaii, and they later moved to Lomita, California. Toward the end of her life she lived at a care facility in Oceanside, very near her son and his family.
Edna loved music; she played the harmonica and keyboard. She was still playing the harmonica at 95 years of age. She also spent countless hours knitting and crocheting blankets for her many friends and relatives.
Edna is survived by her son David (Inka), daughter-in-law Yuki, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 siblings; Sue Dote, Betty Thompson, and Wallace Higa. She is preceded in death by her husband Wilbur daughter Blanche Aurio, son Rodney, grandsons Kendall and Keith Hanakahi, and 7 siblings; Koshin, Kenneth, Dorothy Skelton, Janet Ishikawa, Mildred Hokama, Charles, and Harold.
A memorial service will be held on April 9, 2017 at 1:00pm in Oceanside, California. She will be interred with her husband and daughter at Diamond Head Memorial Park in Oahu, Hawaii.
