Elizabeth Mary Bush

Oceanside CA- Elizabeth “Betty” Bush, 90, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2014 at her home.

Betty was born in New Haven, CT to the late Louis and Geraldine (Healy) Maloney.

Betty honorably served with her two in sisters the United States Navy in WWII with the hope of finding her twin brother who was a prisoner of war in Germany. She served in the Physical Therapy field from 1944 to 1947.

Elizabeth married her late husband Bob in 1947. She was an amazing military spouse, mother of three loving children and a dear friend to all. She was very active in her church, civic work and professional organizations. She received a BS degree from the University of CT. While she was married she received BA degree from Youngstown University. She also completed Masters Degrees in Education, Reading, Early Childhood Education as well as Library Science from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. She taught for 38 years in the state of NC and 16 years at the Old Mission Montessori School (OMMS) at Mission San Luis Rey Parish, Oceanside, CA. Betty loved, dancing, the OMMS children and her family.

Betty is survived by her son, Robert N. Bush of Vermont, daughter-in-law, Virginia Bush; grandchildren, Michelle Bush, Matthew and

Kris Bush; daughter Trish (Bill) Spencer of Oceanside. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son John, brothers Louis, Jack and sisters Geraldine Hinman and Genevieve Carter.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 4:00 p.m., Friday. October 31, 2014 at Mission San Luis Rey Chapel as well as a Mass dedicated to her by the children and staff and OMMS on November 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Burial services will be held privately by the family.
