Liz was one of my older sisters, I was 7 years younger than her. She was very kind to me as a big sister growing up on Hiler ave in Kenmore NY. I have fond memories of all the times she brought me to the beach with her & her boyfriend Phil in the late 1960s to early 1970s. She sought to include me in her activities such as the bike rides we used to go on together in the 1970s. We once rode our bikes together for about 80 miles in one day!
     Liz always had a sense of fair play and had a lot of integrity and was a good leader in the family. I regret we didn't stay in touch too much in her later years, and we all miss her dearly. I feel like she was a better sister to me than I was as a brother to her. Fortunately we will see her again in the life to come & I am ever looking forward to this! Elizabeth Haaland was my first grade teacher at ps# 68 in Buffalo ny. She was so sweet and jolly and kind and such a wonderful teacher..all her students loved her. She instilled in me the joy of reading and remains an inspiration. I always wondered what path she took and it sounds like her life was lived fully. My prayers to her family, she affected so many little lives  from long ago, including mine🍎

Liz and I met at North Coast Calvary Chapel church in Carlsbad in Sep 2012. I was a newcomer to the church and she was very welcoming and outgoing. We immediately became friends. In Oct 2012, we were "roommates" during the Women's Fall Retreat sponsored by the church. Ironically, the theme of the retreat was "Friendship." It was an awesome 3 days together and we spent a great deal of time together getting to know each other. She became a close friend to me. Each Sunday that I was able to attend church, she was sure to save me a seat next to her and we would talk afterward. She also invited me to join her for a day at the San Diego Wild Animal Park and to a play at the Lamb's Theater, as well as for coffee or lunch sometimes too. She was always so generous and thoughtful. 

I was always happy to receive emails from her during the week as we communicated and looked forward to seeing each other on Sundays for church. Liz and I also gave books to each other and talked about books. I love that she shared my love of books. I miss not having her sitting next to me at church. I always appreciated that she prayed for me, and I did for her as well. Although I did not know her for very long, I appreciate that I did have the time I did with her and I will always treasure our friendship. 

She often spoke lovingly of her children David and Rachel and their families. I will always remember her for her kindness.

Peter, my boyfriend, also wants to say thank you to Liz for inspiring him to go to the church and he always looked forward to seeing her there. He always knew that Liz took care of us and gave her heart to us. He put the bookmark from her memorial service in his book collection. He says she was an awesome woman.

Liz was my cousin and special "sister-in-the-Lord" who has been a prayer warrior not only for her family but for mine and for whatever needs I shared with her.  I already miss being able to drop her an email for a special prayer request or check-in but rejoice that she is now before the throne of her savior, Jesus and is at peace.  I will see you again, Liz!  :-)

I knew Liz as we flew together out of Newark for many years. It was always a good day when we worked together! We were also Sunday school teachers at the First Presbyterian Church at Tower Hill in Red Bank, NJ when you kids were small. Liz had a strong faith and a beautiful heart. I will always smile when I think of her.

Liz arrived at our reunion party with her sister Kathy. They were out for an evening of fun, dancing, and reminiscing.
She was regally dressed and greeted everyone with her sincere manner.  She had been known at Kenmore West  as an intelligent, graceful and kind individual.   She returned to Kenmore after 45 years full of enthusiasm to celebrate with her friends.  Our classmates extend their sincere sympathy and condolences to her family.  We all have been blessed to know Liz and to have her in our hearts today. I knew Liz from Kenmore West, but I got to know her much better at Buffalo State during our many chats at the student union.  I feel blessed that I was able to have the chance to visit with her at Caputis at our 4th high school reunion.  She was still the same friendly, kind, and caring lady she always was.

I also knew Liz from Kenmore West High School.  It was so wonderful to see her at our recent 45th reunion in Buffalo.  She was always a beautiful person. Rest in Peace Liz.

Liz also went to Kenmore West Senior High in Kenmore, NY, which is where I knew her. Agreeing with everyone else, she was a wonderful person. She always had a smile and a listening ear. Liz was a wonderful friend and a special flying partner.  She and I flew many trips together while we were based in Newark, and we had wonderful conversations.  It was always a pleasure to see her name on the crew.  She will be truly missed; I am so very sorry for your loss.

Liz and I met on a 3 day trip just after she transferred to LAX.  We hit it off right away.  She had such a delightful personality.  Always a smile and a warm sincere greeting.  Whenever I ran into her I always walked away with a sense of calm and peace.  I am so sorry for your loss.  I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

Liz and I met while we  were both based in  Newark in the late 70's. She lived down the street from me until she married George and then moved to Atlantic Highlands, N. J. which was only about 5 miles from where my husband and I lived. David and my son Ian were the same age and Rachel and my daughter Meredith were the same age, so we got together frequently for play dates. She moved to California and I later moved to Texas, but were always in touch and kept up with family, work and as those who knew Liz well, politics. I will miss her e-mails, and only wish we could have gotten together in these later years to discuss life. She will always hold a special place in my heart.

40 years ago, Liz and I met, teaching together. Fun we shared; when she moved, we knew each others lives by way of letters, phone calls, emails and the times we could meet up when she came back to Buffalo.  I'm so thankful for those moments in my life  and for knowing Liz. I will always remember her infectious laughter and smile. Dave & Rachel, your mother was a very special woman -- all who knew her were blessed by knowing her; she loved you so much.

I met Liz, and flew with her on trips MANY times when we both were Flt. Attendants out of Newark, NJ. We became friends and were sisters in the faith of Christ, and He was frequently our topic of conversation. She loved Jesus with all her heart & served Him well & faithfully! I retired in 2005, and we kept in touch by e-mail when she moved to CA. She was so much fun, & had a wonderful sense of humor! She was passionate as a political conservative and fought hard for causes she believed in. Her smile was infectious, and her heart golden! ?? She was always kind, with passengers & F/A's alike. She did her job well, but always had time to listen to a hurting heart. She was a joyful woman, and I loved her very much! I will sincerely miss her! 

My deepest sympathies go out to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. I know how much you will miss her presence with you! She is with her Savior now and she is living eternally with Him, before the face of Her God. She is with friends & family that have passed before her, and I can't wait to see her again! May where she now surely resides, bring comfort to your hearts, even as you mourn her loss. Love to all of you! ??

I met Liz a few years ago on a trip to Israel, since than we had been in contact daily and know what a wonderful woman she was, her Spirit, her Love, her Prayers will all be greatly missed. Forty years of friendship, of letters and emails- through working together, getting married, raising our families, watching our children grow and marry... I wish we'd had more chances to be close by, I relished the times you came back to Buffalo. I will miss you so much. Your family was blessed to have had you.

It was great getting to know Liz these last several years.  I was happy to see her at the Haaland reunion this past summer along with her sister Carol.  Liz will be missed. A wonderful person! Prayers to David and Rachel and their families.  She loved you very much.

I met Liz so many many years ago when I managed our Palomar Cleaners shop on O'side Blvd. She was such a wonderful customer & friend. She always made time to stay & chat on every visit. We stayed in touch via e-mails, & my love & condolences to the entire family. I had no clue she was ill, as it was never mentioned. Though it has been years since I last saw her, she will forever remain in my thoughts & heart. She was definitely a warm, caring, & loving person. Rest in peace dear friend. So enjoyed getting to know this wonderful cousin at the Haaland family reunions these past few years!  I'm grateful to Aunt Crystal for letting me know of her existence!  Gee, how quickly families disappear from each other over distance and generations!  Glad for email and the internet and genealogy research in our times that helps us to discover common roots and precious family.  David and Rachel, thank you so much for keeping in touch even through these most difficult times.  I hope you will continue to be in touch and will be able to make it to some Haaland family reunions some time in the future--although I know it's a long way to come.  In my heart and mind I will be with you at the service. Aunt Liz was a truly special person and will be dearly missed.  I enjoyed our communications.  Although there was no pattern to our messages, she always seemed to know when I could use a friendly email to brighten my day.  Aunt Liz was definitely an example of how to live a happy life.
