

Felipe G. Castellon, 91 of Oceanside Ca. Died January 29th 2017. "Don Felipe," Son of Julian Castellon Trujillo and Refugio Castellon Gradilla. He is the oldest of 9 siblings. Loving husband of Candelaria Castellon Sanchez, went to heaven to live with Christ January 29th after a battle with CHF, complications of pneumonia and septicemia.
He is survived by his wife Candelaria, three sons, Luis Gustavo, Eduardo and Felipe. He is also survived by 7 wonderful grandchildren, Eduardo, Luis, Levi, Monica, Felipe III, Kristian and Eric as well as eight grandchildren. The youngest being born just one day prior to his death. He was born in Volcanes, Jalisco Mexico, went to school until the 3rd grade. He started working at the age of nine to help support the family. In his 20's He came to live in Tijuana Mexico and then immigrated in to the USA. He worked in agriculture in Central and Southern California. He settled in Oceanside and worked first as a laborer then as a truck driver, ultimately as a foreman in charge of over 200 men in Carlsbad, Encinitas and Oceanside Ca. He had a deep Catholic faith and was a minister of the Eucharist and a reader in mass, and took part in a prayer group for several years along with his beloved Candelaria at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside Ca. He enjoyed camping and fishing but most of all caring for his trees, plants and herbs in his backyard. He believed in education, that he was not able to obtain. His eldest son having a Doctorate in Oceanography, his middle son as a barber and business owner, his youngest son a veteran of the US Navy, automotive field and a licensed nurse. He was once asked what he would do if he won the lottery, he stated in spanish, "I would make a big carne asada." He would make sure that everyone had something to eat.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Services will be held this Friday Feb 3rd from 5pm to 9pm at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Mass will be held Saturday Feb 4th at 11am, Burial at 1230pm.
